Introduction
It is a moment of immense pride and satisfaction to share that my student Sneha has been selected to represent India at the World Athletics Relays 2026.
The competition will be held on May 2 and 3, 2026 at the Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone. This edition marks a historic milestone as the event is being hosted in Africa for the first time.
Sneha will compete as part of the Indian 4 by 100 metre relay team, representing the nation on the global stage.
A Journey of Dedication and Growth
Sneha's selection is a result of her discipline, commitment, and consistent hard work over the years.
I first noticed her talent during the Senior National Meet. Following that, she began training under my guidance at Alva's University, where she demonstrated remarkable progress in a short span of time.
Performance Achievements
Under structured training and continuous development, Sneha has achieved:
- 3 international medals, including at the Asian Athletics Championships 2023
- Gold medal at the National Games in Goa
- Strong performances in Senior Federation, Inter State, Open National, and Indian Grand Prix competitions
- All India University medals in 100 metre and 200 metre events
- Khelo India medal
- A total of 18 national medals
- Personal best of 11.41 seconds in the 100 metre at the Bangalore Grand Prix 2023
Transition to National Camp
As per the guidance of National Chief Coach Radhakrishnan, Sneha later joined the Indian national camp with a focus on relay training. This transition played a key role in preparing her for elite international competition.
A Proud Milestone
Seeing her now compete at the World Athletics Relays represents a significant milestone, not only in her career but also in my journey as a coach. She becomes the first athlete trained under me to compete at the senior world level.
Support System Behind the Success
Behind every achievement is a strong support system.
I would like to acknowledge the contribution of Alva's Chairman, Dr Mohan Alva, whose continuous encouragement and support have been instrumental in shaping this journey.
I would also like to recognize the support of HRDS India Chief Aji Krishnan, whose encouragement has played an important role in Sneha's development, including her recent international success.
Conclusion
Sneha's journey is a reflection of what disciplined training, structured guidance, and the right support system can achieve.
Her selection to represent India on the global stage is not just a personal achievement, but a proud moment for everyone involved in her journey.
Congratulations, Sneha. Wishing you the very best as you represent India with pride.
