Early Life and Education
Born in 1972 as the seventh of eight children to school teachers Chellappan Sir and Janamma Teacher, Dr. Ajithkumar's journey in sports began at a young age. He was a state awardee for best sportsmanship in Kerala in 1991 and went on to become a member of the Mahatma Gandhi University team and the Kerala state team. Dr. Ajithkumar holds a PhD in Sports and Exercise Science, a Master's degree in Physical Education, and a PG Diploma in Sports Coaching in Athletics with an 'A' grade.
Coaching Career
Dr. Ajithkumar's coaching career spans over two decades, during which he has worked with prestigious institutions like Rajiv Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Alva's Education Foundation. He has trained over 80 sportspersons who are serving in various departments of the country. His athletes have won numerous international medals, including a silver medal in the 2025 Asian Track and Field Meet in South Korea and a bronze medal in the World University Games in Long Jump in China in 2023.
